Oral Communication
&
Interview Protocol

Many people find themselves needlessly hesitant about public speaking or interview situations. Effective oral communication is a skill like any other, one that requires confidence, strategy, and practice.

Having interviewed prospective students for Princeton University, I have a good sense of what the expectations are like on the other side of the interview spectrum. Preparation for powerful oral communication revolves around having a good sense of who your audience is and what you want to communicate to them about yourself. If you are clear on this general context, the details of your interactions will follow naturally enough...with a little poise developed through practice.

Whether it's a mock interview or practice speech, rehearsal is a key component of this program. My extensive theatre experience has provided me with a unique set of performance tools with which to empower students.

The equation works: Cerebral strategy + performative practice = confident communication.

TIMELINE: Entirely dependent on student's objectives

EXPECTATIONS: Three words: Preparation, Preparation, Preparation. If you are not confident in your voice, an hour lesson per week is not sufficient to get you where you'd like to be. Be prepared to practice finding your voice with anyone who will listen: parents, friends, pets, or mirrors.
